Here’s what’s happening on Friday (July 19th) in San Diego!
(1) 10-11am: The Factual and the Actual
Room: 32AB
A panel with Randall Munroe (How to?), Brian Fies (A Fire Story), Dylan Meconis (Queen of the Sea), and Rachel Ignotofsky (Women in Art) where we talk about science, history, and more!
Moderator: Judy Prince-Neeb, Librarian, Chula Vista Public Library
(2) 11:30am-12:30pm: Signing stuff (not an actual title, but that’s what’s going to happen)
Location: AA09
I’ll sign whatever you put in front of me, within reason. (Right?) Mostly Hawking, though, I would guess!
(3) 3-4pm: Science and History in Comics
Off-site event: San Diego Central Library – Shiley Suite (330 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101, 9th floor)
Another cool panel with MK Reed (Science Comics: Wild Weather), and Ben Fisher and Emily S. Whitten (The Underfoot: The Mighty Deep), moderated by Tracy Edmunds. We’ll talk about how combining text and image can make complex or abstract subject matter more appealing, winning over even the most reluctant reader. (I’m not sure whether this one’s open to the public, but hey, it’s at a library so your odds are good!)
(4) 4:30-5:30pm: Signing more stuff
First Second/MCPG Booth #2800, 2802
More Hawking signing, and we’ll give away Hawking prints as well!
